In Christ you are forgiven, you are welcome, you are loved

Something you should know up front: Our church is filled with sinners. If we are saved, we are sinners saved by the undeserved grace found in Christ Jesus, offered freely to each of us. There are people in the church who are healthy and thriving, and there are others who are on the streets and struggling, and those at every place in between. Our love for each other, and God’s love for us is enough to cover a multitude of sins. As we pursue him, we pray and labor for his kingdom come, his will to be done in our lives, in our church, and in our community.

What is this place about?

Jesus. We are, first and foremost, a church. We worship and pray, we sing and preach the Bible, we reach out to our neighbors in love with the gospel. But also, in our neighborhood, there is a lot of need, so reaching out to our neighbors looks like creating a wholistic path to wellness for those who are experiencing homelessness and addiction. Some of our church members spent the past thirty years in church in the suburbs. Some of us spent 30 years homeless and addicted. Some of us own businesses in the quarter. Some of us are probably facing the same joys and challenges you are. Come and take part.

Common Questions

If you’re wearing clothes, and if they have been washed recently, you’re in the top 10%. Well done. No, you don’t need to dress up, unless it’s Mardi Gras, then we would recommend you dress as something.
Umm, no. We take sin and truth very seriously, but recognize that we are all sinners, and if we’re saved it’s only by unmerited grace in Christ. We want everyone to know that “God loves the world in this way: that he gave his only begotten son, so whoever believes in him would not perish, but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.”
I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of the saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

On Sundays, you can ignore the 2 hour signs, and the pay-to-park on Rampart St. is free. Other times, we typically park in the Treme, just north of Rampart St. If you Google “Bluenote Barbershop,” you’re there.
